Delete your account

Last updated 4 August 2026

You can delete your Barrad account and everything in it yourself, in about ten seconds, without asking anyone. Here is how — and what happens to your household when you do.

If you still have the app

This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately.

If you have not joined a household yet, the same Delete account button is at the bottom of the first screen you see after signing in.

If you no longer have the app

Email hello@barrad.app from the address on your account, with the subject Delete my Barrad account. Sending from that address is how we confirm it is really you — we cannot action a request from a different address.

We will delete the account and confirm by reply within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What gets deleted

Deleted immediatelyWhat happens to it
Your sign-in credentialsRemoved. You can no longer sign in, and the email address is free to use for a new account.
Your profileYour name and email address are erased.
Your notification tokensErased. Your device stops receiving reminders.
Your household membershipYou are removed from the household member list.

If you are the last member of your household, deleting your account also deletes the household itself — its name, its invite code, and every grocery item, chore and event in it. This cannot be undone, and it affects nothing else because nobody else is left.

What stays, and why

If other people are still in your household, the things you added to it — a grocery item, a chore, an event — stay in that household. They belong to the shared list, and removing them would tear holes in lists other people are still using. Your name is no longer attached to any of it once your account is gone.

If you want that content gone too, delete it in the app before you delete your account, or ask your housemates to.

Backups

Deleted data may persist in encrypted infrastructure backups for a short period before those backups rotate out. It is not accessible to us or to anyone else through the app during that time.

Just want to leave the household?

You do not have to delete your account to get out of a shared household. Household → Danger zone → Leave household takes you out and keeps your account. You will need an invite code to join another one.

Something not working? Write to hello@barrad.app and we will sort it out. See also the Privacy Policy.
