Terms & Conditions
Last updated 4 August 2026
These terms cover your use of the Barrad app. They are written to be read, not to be skipped. Using Barrad means you agree to them.
1. What Barrad is
Barrad is a free app for sharing a grocery list, a chore roster and a calendar with the people you live with. One account belongs to one person, and one person belongs to one household at a time.
2. Your account
You need an account to use Barrad. Keep your sign-in details to yourself — anything done from your account is treated as done by you. Give us an email address that reaches you; it is how we would contact you about your account.
You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you are using Barrad as part of a family, an adult in that household is responsible for how it is used.
3. Households and invite codes
A household is a shared space. Everyone in it can see, add, edit and delete everything in it — there are no owners and no admins, deliberately. That means:
- Share the invite code carefully. Anyone with the six-character code can join and see everything in the household.
- Any member can generate a new code at any time, which immediately stops the old one working. That is the remedy if a code reaches someone it shouldn't.
- Any member can edit or delete anything, including things you added.
- Nobody can remove anyone else. Members leave by choice.
- When the last member leaves, the household is deleted, along with all of its lists, chores and events. This cannot be undone.
4. Your content
What you write in Barrad is yours. You give us permission to store it and show it to the other members of your household, which is the only thing we do with it.
Don't put things into Barrad that are unlawful, that infringe someone else's rights, or that you have no right to share. Don't use Barrad to harass anyone. We can remove content or suspend an account that breaks this, though in practice we would rather write to you first.
Barrad is a household list, not a safe. Please don't store passwords, card numbers, medical records or anything else you would be seriously harmed by your housemates seeing.
5. Availability
We try to keep Barrad running, but it is a free service and we do not promise uptime. We may change features, or stop offering the app entirely. If we ever shut it down we will give reasonable notice so you can get your data out.
Barrad works offline for a while and syncs when you reconnect. Sync depends on your device and your network, which are outside our control.
6. No warranty
Barrad is provided "as is". We don't promise it will be error-free, or that it will suit any particular purpose. Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee — don't rely on Barrad alone for anything that genuinely matters, like medication or a flight.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or anything arising from a missed reminder or a chore nobody did. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
If you are a consumer, you keep all the statutory rights your local law gives you; nothing in these terms takes those away.
8. Ending it
You can stop using Barrad whenever you like and delete your account from Household → Danger zone → Delete account, or by following the instructions here. We can suspend or end an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
9. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Barrad after that means you accept the new terms.
10. Getting in touch
Write to hello@barrad.app. If something goes wrong between us, we would much rather sort it out by email than any other way.
See also the Privacy Policy, which explains what Barrad stores and how to get it deleted.
